The Sargasso Sea is a region of the Atlantic Ocean bounded not by land but by four ocean currents forming a gyre, the only named sea with no coastline at all, distinguished by its floating brown Sargassum seaweed and calm blue water. Its area is estimated at roughly 4.16 million square kilometers, but because its borders are current-defined rather than fixed, and the Canary Current in particular is highly variable, its true boundaries genuinely shift over time.
