The Madagascar lowland forests, also called the Madagascar humid forests, cover roughly 112,000 square kilometers along the island's eastern coast. Between 80 and 90 percent of their plant and animal life is found nowhere else on Earth, concentrated especially in the forests of the eastern plain, and the ecoregion is listed among the Global 200 outstanding ecoregions.
