The Camargue is a coastal wetland region of southern France, between the Mediterranean Sea and the two arms of the Rhone river delta, covering over 930 square kilometers of brine lagoons and reed marsh cut off from the sea by sandbars. It is both a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance and a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
